Airport Overview
Originally constructed during World War II by Luke Air Force Base for military training, Buckeye Municipal Airport is strategically located to serve as a corporate aviation center on the western fringe of the Phoenix Metropolitan Area. Situated in a broad valley 37 miles west of Phoenix, the airport is framed by the White Tank Mountains to the north and the Maricopa and Gila Bend Mountains to the south. It is an excellent, well-constructed, general aviation facility occupying 715 acres with an existing 5500 foot runway planned for expansion to 7300 feet, and a current width of 75 feet planned for widening to 100 feet. Buckeye Municipal Airport currently is able to accommodate small corporate jets and will be able to accommodate the large corporate jets once the runway is fully built out.
The airport offers 100 LL fuel available 24hours a day, 7 days a week. Hangar facilities at the Buckeye Municipal Airport consist of large conventional hangars, nested T-hangars, and shaded tie-down facilities. The Airport Terminal is located near the center of the airport. It houses the airport office staff as well as a pilot's lounge and computer terminal for checking the weather and flight routes.
The Buckeye Municipal Airport is also home to the Desert Sky Diving Center, the Trade Mark Group, American Autogryo and the Buckeye Flight Experience. Future developments are planned at the airport which may include a restaurant, rental car services, additional hangar facilities and other aviation related businesses.

Airport Master Plan
The Buckeye Municipal Master Plan was undertaken to evaluate and determine the existing and future needs of the airport. One of the goals of the master planning process is formulating a capital improvement plan suitable for meeting the airport's development needs over a 20 year period. Our current Master Plan was prepared by Coffman & Associates in 1998. The Town is currently in the process of completing an updated master plan which should be completed in 2006.
